WHO WE ARE

A SAFE, HEALTHY NEW JERSEY STARTS HERE.

TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH!

Buddy’s owner at the dog park.

The neighbor you wave to every morning, but never got around to introducing yourself to.

Your 8 o’clock on-the-dot “Large black, two sugars” customer.

The person at the gym who spots you every time.

You see them several times a week. You recognize them in context, but nobody better ask for an introduction!

We’re keeping them safe. We’re keeping you safe, too.

We’re your local New Jersey public health departments.

You might recognize us from inspection results posted in your favorite restaurant or tattoo parlor…but we’re also monitoring child lead cases, coordinating flu shot clinics and investigating potential rabies cases when someone’s bitten by a dog. You might not recognize us across contexts, but you can be confident we’re putting community health at the center of everything we do.

We’re as diverse as the citizens we serve. New Jersey has approximately 104 local public health departments serving 564 townships, boroughs and other municipalities. Each one operates just a little bit differently, from the size of the department to the geography and population to the services they offer.

While no two departments operate exactly alike, we’re all uncompromising in our commitment to health…yours. Ours. Everyone’s.

You can trust New Jersey's local Public Health professionals to:
